MLS Experience
2007: Continued to develop into one of the top young players in MLS in 2007 with a nine goal season, finishing second on the Red Bulls in that category to Juan Pablo Angel. Against Toronto FC on Aug. 12, Altidore scored the final two Red Bulls goals in a 3-0 win. In the next match on Aug. 18 against Los Angeles, he scored two goals in front of a record-setting crown in a 5-4 win. Altidore also added four assists while making 22 appearances. Missed time during the year due to U.S. U-20 National Team commitments.2006: Made his first MLS appearance on Sept. 9 at New England as a sub in the 81st minute. While working towards his high school diploma in Florida, finished his rookie year with four goals (two game-winners) in nine games (including playoffs). Scored his first career goal in brilliant fashion- a 30-yard, game-winning strike against Columbus on Sept. 16 in the 83rd minute. Started the last three games of the regular season, scoring three goals in a six-game span. Scored the Red Bulls' only goal of their 2-1 aggregate loss to D.C. United in the Eastern Conference Semifinals series when he headed in a cross in the second leg. With that goal, he became the youngest player to score in the MLS playoffs at 16 years, 357 days (breaking DaMarcus Beasley's record by almost three years). Was also youngest to start in an MLS playoff match on Oct. 21 against D.C. United (16 years, 349 days).

In his first start for U.S. MNT, he scored in the first half vs. Mexico at Reliant Stadium on Feb. 6 2008 - a 2-2 tie. Called into camp on Nov. 28, 2007 for the United States U-23 Men's National team in preparation for a pair of friendlies against China. Played in two of the four games for the U.S. U-17s in the 2005 World Championships and has had three multi-goal games.
