Since joining the Red Bulls as their second Designated Player in April 2007, Juan Pablo Angel has established himself as one of the top forwards in the League, scoring 33 goals in just 47 games. Despite missing seven games in 2008 due to injury, Angel, third all-time in goals scored in club history, led the Red Bulls to their first MLS Cup Final in 2008, scoring two goals in four playoff games. A 2007 MLS Most Valuable Player finalist and two-time MLS All-Star, the former Aston Villa and River Plate marksman has recorded seven multi-goal games since coming to New York. Dangerous with both feet and one of the League's best players in the air, Angel enters 2009 nine goals shy of breaking Giovanni Savarese's club record for regular season goals scored (41).

2008: Scored 14 goals in 23 regular season games played despite missing four games in June due to a lower back and left hamstring injury (he missed seven total games). Was fourth in MLS in goals and first in the Eastern Conference. Won MLS Player of the Month in October and MLS Player of the Week for Week 20 after a two-goal effort against D.C. United on Aug. 10. Named to his second-straight MLS All-Star Team and helped set up the winning goal in the All-Stars' 3-2 win over West Ham United FC on July 24. Also earned three assists. Scored twice in the Red Bulls' surprise 4-1 aggregate win over Houston in their Western Conference semifinal series. Played full 90 minutes in 1-0 Western Conference Final win over Real Salt Lake, helping earn the team's first trip to the MLS Cup Final.2007: After joining the Red Bulls as the team's second Designated Player on April 17, he made an immediate impact.
