Frequently asked Questions
What are the check-in/check-out times?
- Check-in time is between 1:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. on Sunday. Residential campers should try to arrive closer to 1:00 p.m., as this will give you the opportunity to drop your belongings in your room and get prepared for your first session.
- Day campers are also required to check in on Sunday, but as this process is easier please arrive after 1:45 p.m.
- Players should eat lunch prior to arrival as the first meal will be at approximately 4:30 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
- Please do not arrive prior to 1:00 p.m., as all our staff will be busy making final site preparations and no one will be available to assist you
- Check-out time is at 3:00 p.m. on the Thursday
- If you are unable to check in between 1:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, please e-mail us at register@newyorkredbulls.com and we will advise you accordingly.
How do I choose a roommate?
- During the online registration process there is a section where players can choose a roommate. Before entering your request, please confirm with the person you intend to room with that both of you agree to this arrangement.
- The size of rooms varies between locations with some rooms offering occupancy for 3 or 4 players.
- Every reasonable attempt will be made to ensure players from the same team are housed next door, across the hallway or on the same floor. It is very important that, if you are registering as part of a team, you list your coach and team name when going through the online registering process.
- We understand the importance of getting the rooming allocation right, and we appreciate your patience and cooperation on the opening day while we do our best to accommodate everyone's needs.
What should players bring to camp?
- Soccer equipment: cleats, sneakers, shinguards, plenty of t-shirts, shorts, rain jacket
- Goalkeepers should bring gloves and goalkeeper shirts
- Casual clothing
- Toiletries and towels
- Bed linens and pillow(s)
- Bathing suit
- Fan (depending on location. See question 9.)
What are the supervision arrangements in the dorms?
- New York Red Bull coaches are housed on each floor of every dorm. Their rooms have signs on them should campers need them for any reason
- Boys and girls are on separate floors, with male coaches on the boys' floor and female coaches on the girls' floor
- In addition to our staff, the University has its own on campus security which is available 24 hours a day
How can my child and I contact one another throughout the week?
- There are pay phones on campus for the players to use. We recommend the child has a calling card to alleviate the problem of finding change
- If your child has a cell phone, he may use it only in his room
- The camp coordinator will give each parent a phone number where his/her child can be reached throughout the week
Are there any medical facilities on site?
- All members of New York Red Bulls staff have a working knowledge of first aid and how to treat basic sporting injuries
- A qualified athletic trainer is also present during the week
Do the dorms have air conditioning?
No. We recommend that each camper bring a fan of some type. (Clip-over-the-bed, desktop or free-standing).
Does each location have a swimming pool?
- East Stroudsburg University = Yes
- Peddie School = Yes
- Oakwood Friends School = No
- Darrow School = Yes
For locations with a pool, time is built into the schedule for swimming. There are qualified lifeguards at each pool location.
What if my child has dietary requirements?
- Every location offers a variety of meal options three times a day.
- There are vegetarian options available at all meals
- We assume that all players are aware of their dietary concerns and know what they can or cannot eat
- Each kitchen staff is used to dealing with school groups, so if your child has any questions during camp, he/she may ask them
- Our staff is seated with the campers for all meals so they can monitor the players' eating habits/intake
- Water is available at the fields for all sessions
- We urge you not to provide your child with large amounts of candy and soda for their rooms
What do I do with my child's medications?
- All medical information, including medications to be taken at camp, must be listed when you fill out and return the appropriate sections of the registration forms.
- All medications must be left with the coordinator at check in. They will personally supervise and administer medications
Are parents allowed to come and watch during the week?
- Absolutely! We'd be delighted to see as many parents as possible come and see firsthand the tremendous training the players receive
- We welcome you to come at any time, but the best time to attend is from 6-8 p.m., when a 4v4 tournament is taking place. Your presence will generate a great atmosphere for the players to play in
How much money should my child bring for the week?
- Approximately $25-$30 (in small bills) for the week should be plenty
- Players can keep money in their rooms or deposit it in our safe and "withdraw" it when needed
- The East Stroudsburg location operates an 'E Card' system which allows parents to add money to the card which can then be use to make purchases throughout the campus
- Please do not bring other valuable items to camp as New York Red Bulls are not responsible for the loss of any personal belongings
Where do I find directions to each location?
Directions to each location can be found here.
